BBS Germany Insolvency
August 1, 2024We would like to inform our dealers, distributors, and customers about an important update regarding the recent developments with BBS GmbH. ISH Group, acquired BBS Automotive GmbH last December and subsequently established the new entity BBS Autotechnik GmbH.
Last Friday, July 26th, the ISH Group, filed for insolvency. While we do not have specific details regarding this action, we want to assure you that BBS of America is not affected by this filing as we are currently under the ownership of KW Automotive NA and are not directly affected by the financial implications.
To clarify some misinformation circulating in the news, BBS Motorsport GmbH and BBS Japan are separate entities and unaffected by the BBS Autotechnik GmbH insolvency. Specifically, BBS Japan and BBS Motorsport GmbH are the suppliers of BBS forged wheels.
BBS Autotechnik GmbH/ISH Group is the supplier of BBS cast and flow-formed wheels.
BBS of America manages the NASCAR program and the wheels are produced by BBS Japan, while BBS Motorsport GmbH manufactures race wheels for Formula One. Neither of these companies are impacted by the insolvency of BBS Autotechnik GmbH. Both companies are in good standing, and our business operations with them will continue uninterrupted.
Unfortunately, some news reports have incorrectly grouped all three companies together. We want to assure you that this is not the case, and our partnerships with BBS Japan and BBS Motorsport GmbH remain strong.
For over 10 years, the BBS brand has been co-owned with BBS Japan owning the Forged business and BBS Motorsport. This co owned arrangement of the brand creates confusion when BBS GmbH Germany (Cast wheel division) files for insolvency.
Fortunately, we are a strong brand with 54 years of experience in motorsport and high-end products. This legacy will help us navigate through the challenges faced by the cast side of the company in Germany.
We appreciate your unwavering support for the BBS of America team.
